Good to know

First meet-up, the safe way.

  • ☕ Keep it public and short

A busy café in daylight for about an hour. Sit where you can see the door, and stay in the public area.

  • 🚌 Your own way there and back

Travel on your own, and don't share your home address. If plans move to a new place, take your own transport.

  • 📱 Check in afterwards

Text your trusted contact when you leave and when you're home. If they don't hear from you, they ring.

  • 🚩 Notice the red flags

Pressure to go somewhere private, asking for money, avoiding a video call, or someone who doesn't match their photos. Leave and report it.

If you feel unsafe

Leave straight away. You don't owe anyone an explanation. Ask staff for help, and in an emergency call 112 (Ireland, the UK, the EU and India), 999 (Ireland and the UK) or 911 (the USA).

Afterwards, tell our safety team. We read every report. See also our safety guidelines.
